Hebron Mayor, Khaled Osaily, met today in his office with a delegation from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) including Dr. Daphne Franck representing GTZ project evaluation team, as well as project coordinators Gina Kabar, Jihad Al Shakhshir and May Bargouthi in view of reviewing and discussing projects implemented by the Municipality in collaboration with GTZ, especially the Local Governance Development Project and the Customer Service Center.
At the beginning of the meeting, Osaily expressed appreciation for GTZ’s role in supporting development projects in Hebron and for the efforts recently exerted to develop the local governance sector and contribute to enhancing the infrastructure and supporting the Palestinian people in general.
Osaily talked about his vision for enhancing and improving public service and about what has already been achieved in the Municipal Council’s strategic plan, detailing projects completed over the last three years, especially in the field of youth and sports. This sector has in fact taken a new upward trend, now that the basis has been established for polishing skills and creating an adequate atmosphere for motivating youth to be creative and distinguished through a host of vital projects implemented in Hebron such as Al Hussein Stadium, the indoor sports hall, Tariq Bin Ziad Community Center, the Korean-Palestinian Cultural Center and a number of other projects currently underway.
Osaily invited GTZ to provide even more support to city projects and maintain its efforts in favor of the Palestinian people. He praised the endeavors of GTZ and other agencies operating in the Palestinian territories.
Following a tour over various city sections, and a detailed explanation provided by the heads of the Geographical Information System, the Remote Operation Unit and the Customer Service Center, Franck expressed admiration for the scientific, technical and administrative qualities of Municipality staff and for the role they play in transferring experience to other municipalities.
Dr. Franck underlined the importance of benefiting from Hebron Municipality’s expertise in a number of fields and transferring such expertise to other municipalities and authorities in Palestine in view of enhancing services and creating integration between Palestinian institutions.
