Hebron Mayor KhaledOsaily discussed today with Ms. Lana Abu Hijleh, CHF’s Country Director in the West Bank and Gaza and accompanying delegation, progress made by joint projects and means to provide support to additional projects in Hebron.
At the beginning of the meeting, Osaily thanked CHF for the support it has provided to numerous projects in Hebron. He said that optimal progress is being made within the set timeframe and projects shall be finalized in time thanks to effective cooperation and prior detailed planning.
Speaking about Al Salam Park, Osaily said that this project shall have a great positive impact on Hebron which lacks public parks. It will provide a real breathing space for families and shall be added to the series of development and cultural projects which reflect the historical development of Hebron and shall help connect the city’s past to its present in order to build a promising future for an open-minded generation capable of protecting its past and of building a free state with strong institutions.
Osaily also touched on flagship projects – through which the Municipality aims to improve services to citizens- implemented thanks to cooperation with CHF. Such cooperation includes support to the Customer Service Center, a Capacity Building Program as well as numerous other pioneering projects in Palestine such as the Remote Control System for the Hebron Water Network and the GIS section at Hebron Municipality.
As for vital projects for which the Municipality seeks funding, Osaily said that they are in the field of infrastructure, water, roads, youths, schools as well as projects that would create jobs for recent graduates and the unemployed. “Support by CHF to Al Salam Park has played a major role in realizing a local dream, i.e. to create a safe and comfortable space where all family members can spend their time”, he added.
Ms. Abu Hijleh expressed satisfaction with progress made at Al Salam Park and with recent achievements, hoping to see the project inaugurated within the set timeframe. She thanked Hebron Municipality with which there is strong and obvious cooperation, adding that success cannot be built by one party alone: indeed, the Municipality’s performance has played a major role in ensuring the success of joint projects. “CHF is satisfied with joint cooperation with Hebron Municipality. CHF is ready to enhance this cooperation and to implement further vital projects in Hebron in order to improve the life of its inhabitants”, she said.
Participants then attended a ceremony organized by the Youths Municipal Council in Hebron Municipality’s Child Happiness Center. The ceremony was held following elections to choose the Chair and members of the Council.
