At a meeting with WB officials in Washington : Osaily discusses a number of development projects in Hebron

Moreover, a workshop entitled “Best Practices and Lessons Learned from the Management of Solid Waste in Fragile States” was held at WB headquarters in D.C. The workshop, which was attended by several international experts as well as by a high level team from the WB, discussed a number of projects implemented or to be implemented in various countries including Palestine.
In his speech, Osaily thanked the WB for its continuous support of vital projects in Palestine. He said that good governance as well as the resolve to implement such projects despite dire conditions in Palestine which suffers from occupation, lack of resources and major obstacles are the main reasons behind the success of these projects. Moreover, Osaily touched on achievements realized in Palestine in various fields including the management of solid waste. Such achievements were possible  thanks to modern technology, IT tools and the methodology used which is built on determining needs, ensuring an active participation by all stake holders, supervising operations and maintenance and ensuring follow-up and evaluation, Osaily said.
It is to be noted that Palestine is one of the rare countries where such projects have been implemented with excellent performance levels. These projects include the project for the Management of Solid Waste in the Northern West Bank and a similar project in the Southern West Bank. Studies made by WB experts have revealed that these projects were amongst the most successful in this field.Both projects were presented by Eng. Yasser Al Dweik, Executive Director of the Joint Council for Bethlehem and Hebron and Eng. Hani Shawahneh, Executive Director for the Joint Council for Jenin through a video-conference link with the WB offices in Jerusalem. Both engineers spoke about achievements made as well as obstacles and difficulties encountered and overcome.
