Hebron Mayor meets with Acting Chairman of the State Audit and Administrative Control Bureau.

Hebron Mayor Khaled Osaily met today with Dr. Jamal Abu Baker, Acting Chairman of the State Audit and Administrative Control Bureau and his accompanying delegation. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Kamal Al Dweik from the Municipal Council and by Heads of Sections at Hebron Municipality.

Mayor Osaily briefed Mr. Abu Baker on development projects implemented by the Municipality in line with its Strategic Development Plan which covers infrastructure, sports, cultural and social facilities serving youths and children in the Governorate. Osaily explained that the Municipality is about to inaugurate the Remote Control System for the Hebron Water Network. Moreover, work is underway to finalize a Korean-funded project aimed at building a model school and a youths center, while the rehabilitation and asphalting of many streets and arteries in Hebron with a total area of 138 000 m2 is also underway with support from USAID.

Moreover, Osaily spoke about computerized information systems used in the fields of finance, management and engineering with view to creating an E-Municipality and providing services electronically as well as through customer service centers.

Hebron Mayor then accompanied his guests on a visit to various municipal sections including the Remote Control System for the Hebron Water Network section, GIS section and Hebron Electricity whose Director General made a detailed presentation on maintenance and development activities implemented by his utility since its inception. He underlined its efficient work, performance and professional indicators observed in providing this important service to the local population.

Mr. Abu Baker said that the developments he witnessed at Hebron Municipality constitute an example to be followed and from which other Palestinian Municipalities can learn. His Bureau, he added, provides expertise to Palestinian institutions to help enhance their performance and increase their efficiency. “Computerized financial and administrative systems and relevant procedures ensure transparency and integrity”, he added.

Mr. Kamal Al Dweik then accompanied the delegation on a tour of the Municipality’s central warehouses and technical electricity sections as well as of the Korean project, Al Hussein Stadium and the Indoor Sports Hall. Mr. Abu Baker concluded this tour by a visit to the Customer Service Centre where he got acquainted with how customer requests are handled.

At the end of the visit, Mayor Osaily thanked his guest for his interest in Hebron and for this visit to its Municipality. “Cooperation and coordination between Hebron Municipality and the State Audit and Administrative Control Bureau is important to ensure continuous organizational and professional development and to facilitate services provided to Palestinians”, he concluded.
